Lamont Steps up Crime Prevention Activities!

The Town of Lamont Council members and administration have made crime prevention within our town a priority. Council and administration have met with representatives from the Solicitor General’s office, the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP, Citizens on Patrol, local business owners and residents to discuss ways to fight crime.
Some of the initiatives being implemented within the community are outlined below;

Enhanced Policing:

The Town of Lamont has budgeted funds in the 2007 budget for additional policing. The Town of Lamont has entered into an Enhanced Policing Agreement with the Solicitor General’s office and the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP detachment to purchase additional policing within the community. The town provides a fully equipped office for RCMP members within the Towns administrative offices.

Rewards

The town of Lamont offers a $2000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for vandalism to any property in the town. Please do your part to keep our community looking good by reporting vandalism.

Citizens on Patrol:

The Lamont Citizens on Patrol Program is an organization made up of volunteers from the community. This program is registered with the RCMP and all members have been pre-screened by the RCMP. This program has the support of the Town of Lamont and the RCMP.

Business Crime Proofing

The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP detachment has completed work with local business owners to identify ways of crime-proofing their places of business. Business owners have had a security check performed on their places of business and are implementing additional security measures to help deter crime.

Parks By-Law Enforcement

Please note parks owned by the Town of Lamont are closed to the public from 11:00 PM until 06:00 AM. The Town of Lamont By-Law 03/06 is in place to control the use of parklands and open space operated for the benefit of the citizens of the Town of Lamont.
