Just a quick trip east of Edmonton, Lamont County has a combination of beautiful landscapes, rich cultural heritage and unique events that make it the perfect destination for day trips and weekend getaways.

With over 40 historical churches, earning the County the title of “Church Capital of North America,” a self-driving tour is the perfect way to experience the County’s beautiful country-side. For a more structured and educational event, join us during Open Farm Days August 19-20 for a unique agri-culinary event highlighting Lamont County’s agriculture and local food. The weekend event will feature farm tours, a local farm-to-table feast, and an old-fashioned barn dance that will have you throwing away your running shoes for a pair of cowboy boots!

Anyone who wants to immerse themselves in Canada’s history or their own Ukrainian heritage will be thrilled to discover Lamont County is the cradle of Ukrainian settlement in Canada. This year, the County will celebrate Canada’s 125 years of Ukrainian immigration with a Ukrainian History Tour on July 8, as well as the 5th Annual Babas and Borshch Ukrainian Festival on August 26-27 in Lamont. Fully immerse yourself in Ukrainian food, culture, music, performances and more.

With attractions such as Elk Island National Park and the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village as anchor tourism destinations, and events throughout the summer to keep you celebrating, Lamont County will have you coming back again.
